Holiday camp - Angel Clay (Day 5)

After our lunch, we moved to another classroom to play with Angel Clay. The teacher showed us the two different frame she made and we got to choose one design to make.

The teacher taught us step by step how to do it and we can add our own design. When we are done, we were given colouring to paint our clay and sparkles to put on the photo frame. The teacher said we have to leave it to dry for 5 days but during the ride home, some parts fell off. Crying

This is the end of my holiday camp and I like to thank mommy and daddy for signing me up and paying for such enjoyable camp!

Tomorrow is another day I'm looking forward to...as we will be going on a holiday to ....

Can you guess where we are going? Roll

Holiday Camp - Explorer Kid (Day 4)

Today, we went to Explorer Kids. It was very fun. Though I was there only 2 weeks ago, but that time, mommy didn't want to pay for the "ball game" so I didn't get to play the last time. But today, we got to play there and I enjoyed collecting the bullet (balls) and shooting it at teachers and friends.

I show-off to my teachers and friends too on the Cliff Adventure. They all applauded at my scaling speed and height! Feel so proud!!

Holiday Camp - Air Force Museum (Day 3)

Today, we visited the hanger (I just learnt this word and insist on using it here) after lunch. The first thing we did was to explore the indoor gallery. We also watched a movie of the army fighting in a war on the jet plane. Then, they told us the names of those brave warriors who fought bravely for the country and one of them sounded like my daddy's name!! And the man look like my daddy too!! (Though my daddy was much fatter than him!)
Belly Laugh

After that, we were introduced to the different types of plane there. Our teacher gave us a pencil and paper and told us to take note of all the planes around us. Once we are done with the tour, while waiting for the bus to come, teacher told us to draw a picture of a plane we saw and I drew a helicopter.

Charmaine came here before too and again, we had so much to chat about!

Holiday Camp - Mushroom Farm (Day 2)

Like yesterday, we had our Chinese Language workshop in the morning before proceeding to visit the Mushroom Farm.

First, when we got there, the aunty let us tasted a few mushrooms. Even as a "mushroom -dislike" person, I find it nice. The aunty told us that we should not wash the top of the mushroom when we want to cook them but just the root..when I told mommy this, mommy expression is Very Confused

We were then lead to the mushroom hut and the aunty showed us how mushroom was grown. They first collected some sawdust and formed it into a log. They dug a small hole and placed the seeds into the holes and placed it in the mushroom hut. The mushroom will grow from there.

Its a great experience for me to be able to see the different stages of the mushroom's growth. When I told Charmaine about the trip, she is not so envy as she had been to the farm with her school months ago and we chatted about the farm the whole journey home and even during dinner!

Holiday Camp - Christmas Log cake (Day 1)

Today is the first day of my Chinese Enrichment Holiday Camp and I'm really looking forward to it. Especially today as we will be learning how to make and decorate a Christmas log cake!

The day started with the usual Chinese language workshop and followed by lunch. Then transport was here to fetch us to Genius R Us to learn making of the Christmas Log cake baking.

Once we got there, we were asked to put on a clean apron and a "hat". Each of us were given a big bowl, 8 eggs and all the necessary ingredients. After I tried cracking 2 eggs, teacher came over to help me as she sensed I had difficulties with the cracking. Blushy We then mixed the eggs, flour, sugar and chocolate powder until the staff told us to stop and helped transfer the mixture into a baking tray to place it in the oven.

Once the cake is out, I spread chocolate cream (we were given choice of chocolate and vanilla) on my cake and rolled it into a swiss roll. After that, I spread some white cream on the log cake and placed the decoration given (Father Christmas; a snow man with skateboard and a candy cane) onto my cake.

I had a lovely time learning today! And I was so eager to show mommy and daddy my "creation"! Charmaine was envy but mommy said she is a very good girl as she did not throw a big fuss (which I will if i'm her) as she knows she had school. Mommy promised her that she will attend such camp next year too.

We had Christmas log cake for supper and breakfast. It tasted wonderful!!

KFC outing & Bento #54

Got to give mommy a pat on her back for packing my holiday with fun activities! Blushy 4 *thick skin*

Usually, our Sunday School (KFC) will organised camp at the end of the year but this year, due to tight teacher resources, they only organised one day outing for the children. Mom happily signed me and Charmaine up for outing..come to think of it...mommy was so eager to sign us up for so many activities so she doesn't need to "entertain" us!! Crazy

Back to the outing, we met at Church at 8am for Praise & Worship session before leaving for Treetops Canopy Walk. Before dropping us off, mommy reminded me many many times not to squabble with Charmaine and to look after her. So on the bus, I told Charmaine to take the window seat while I take the aisle seat. I told her I need to protect her just in case she fall. Mommy learns about it and praised me! Roll

We had a great walk at the Treetop Walk stopping once for our BYO (Bring your own) picnic. A chance for mom to brush up on her bento skill.

Top: Chicken & egg Mayonnaise with cherry tomatoes
Bottom: Edamame; longans; dragon fruit

I finished everything sharing only 2 longans with my friend. The ice-pack not only helps keeps the food cold, it also keeps me cool! Though God had blessed us with wonderful weather, I couldn't resist placing the ice-pack on my neck.

After recharging ourselves, we continued our walked out and followed by packet lunch before heading for a bowling session. After a wonderful and tiring day, both Charmaine and I fell asleep on the bus..actually, most of the KFC's kids fell asleep... Tired

Daddy was there to pick us up and he had informed mommy that he will bring us out to watch Winx Club's movie!!! We were thrilled!!! But soon after the show start, daddy regretted watching such "silly" show ... hahaha..

As for mommy, she had a peaceful Saturday doing her long overdue DVD..mommy making all her recordings into a "movie" so we can watch and relived the memories!

Chinese Enrichment Term 4 Appraisal

My term 4 Chinese enrichment's appraisal.

Need to put in more effort on my Compo... with the Centre offering composition & comprehensive class, mommy decided to withdraw me from the programme I had been attending and registered me in the new programme. She feels that my Chinese is ok but worried for my compo writing in Primary 2.

Hope I can do just as well without the usual programme if not, mommy might have to force to put me back there on a different day, which means I will have 2 days of Chinese class!!!

Looking Back At My Graduation

Seeing Charmaine's graduation brought back so many memories of mine.... Mom didn't put up the video previously as she had no idea how to reduce the MB, but now, she finally got it and wanted to posted it here so I can view it too as and when I want to.

Ms Lucy who was my teacher in K2 assured us that all the mommies will cry when they watch our graduation performance and it did! Not only mommies cried, daddies were proud of their little babies too!

After tears flow for our Graduation ceremony, we bring back laughter and cheers to our parents with our performance. Charmaine's performed too and she looks so cute and she really can shake her butt very well! Check her 2007 performance here.

Hear those screams from all the mommies and daddies!! Its as if like some mega star's performing!!!

Scaling The Cliff & The Adventure Highlands

An added advantage of going to a full-school is having our holidays much earlier than other children and mommy can bring me around to play with no crowds and at an off-peak rate!!

Today, aunty Sherlyn suggested to go to ExplorerKid and without any hesitation, off we go! Daddy was right on one thing here..I'm too old to go to such places... I'm not very interested with the Megaplay but did played a while there with my 2 cute cousins.

After sometimes, I was bored and mom asked me to try The Cliff which is a challenge for me. I did not managed to climb very high the last time when I was here. But today, as it is an off-peak day, the staffs there were free and taught me how to climb and i managed to climb all the way to the top!

See how fast I climb!

The staffs there are so friendly and chatty and I began to chatted with them. Throughout the few hours, I was there talking, playing with the staffs!

I got to try The Adventure Highlands too! Not once, but twice! The first time was a little scary but with mommy's and the staff's encouragement, I completed it without a scratch. And just before we leave, I got to do it again, this time, much faster and less scary!

This is easy!

I'm The Last One Standing For Subaru Challenge

GOTCHA! Hee..No..I didn't take part in the Subaru Impreza 2008 challenge. I was there because mommy had to go for her check-up and since we were early, we hopped over to Taka and check things out.

Daddy had been telling us about this Subaru Challenge since it started on Saturday and my sister and I were eager to know who is the winner. I found out that they had been there standing with their hand on the car for almost 60+ hour with only 5 minutes rest in between! The girls seems to be much stronger lot..mommy said this is not only about stamina but also about will-power and woman has stronger will-power than man.

We didn't stay for very long as mommy had to go for her check up (find out on mommy's check-up here) but we went back after that to see. We left the place again as mommy needs to get her hair done and we came back at about 2pm to get the updates and went off again for grocery shopping.

We happened to see a man "leave" the challenge and I asked mommy's permission to go to the First Aid tent to check it out. They wheeled the man there and massaged him and also gave him something to drink. They also applied some yellowish oil on his hands and continued to massage his hands.

We only leave the place about 5pm after much persuasion from mommy. Oh, mommy got to see Glen Ong in person and gosh! He is really handsome!

Zoo Again!

Mommy brought us to the zoo the following day after Charmaine's graduation, (check out her video here).

Its our 3rd time visiting the newly revamped Zoo but mommy's first! She was so proud of the Singapore Zoo! And fall in love with the new Kid's World! We had a fantastic time there playing and exploring! Only set back is that the water-play area was closed for maintenance...

Mommy also found the Dinosaur's land and many more...how come we missed all these when we were here with daddy? We only played in the playground and water-play area when we came with daddy the past 2 occasions.

Oh, can you see how brave I am to hold the butterfly? okay, I'm not torturing the little butterfly, I found it lying on the ground and picked it up to place it on a leaf, just in case, it got step on by some others....

And they have new programme too called the "Rainforest Fight Back"... interesting and we get to take pictures with all the cast F.O.C.!!

Go check out our newly revamped Singapore Zoo if you can! Its worth a trip there!

Return of Report Card

Last week, daddy and mummy came to the school to collect the report card from our form teacher.

English 93.5% (2nd Sem) 94% (Overall)

Chinese 97.5% (2nd Sem) 99% (Overall)

Maths 95.5% (2nd Sem) 97% (Overall)

Think the oral for both actually pulled my marks down. For Chinese written paper, I got 99.9% and English written paper excluding compo, I got 93.8%.

Daddy and mummy thought I did very well for my exam, none of them ever scored this kinda marks! But when they were showed the Overall results of the entire Primary One cohort, they began to worry.

See, for English and Maths, I belongs to the average pupils as 50% of the entire Primary One score above 92% and 96% respectively! Only consolation is my Chinese which I belongs to the top 25%. The highest score for Chinese and Maths are 100% while the highest for English paper is 99%!! So scary!! Daddy said its either the standard of the pupils are high or the school standard is low!

As for teacher's comments about me, it goes "Rachel has an inquisitive and adventurous spirit. She will benefit from communicating regularly with a mentor to process her thoughts and to provide guidance in decision making to effect positive outcome."

Mrs Tse told dad and mum that I'm the only girl in class that is very observant and inquisitive. I'm very entrepreneur and fast in mind, so if I was not given proper guidance, I might put this skill of mine into wrong used and it can be awful. *sigh* which is quite true, mummy always say I can turn the black into white with my talking.

Hope I can do better next year as we will be having the "streaming" by end of Primary Two. Mum said I'm clever, the only thing I need to work on is to be careful with my work. I would have belong to the top 25% for English and Maths if i wasn't careless too...

Piano Theory Exam

Had my Piano Grade One Theory Exam today. It coincides with Charmaine's Primary One orientation and thus, mummy and daddy had to co-ordinate to attend to one each. Mummy accompany Charmaine and Daddy send me to the exam venue.

Despite mummy and daddy telling me not to come out before the time is up, I couldn't help it. I came out after 50minutes (the paper is for 1 1/2 hour). When mum and dad found out, they simply shake their head..saying I never learn. But I told them I have checked through 3 times and the invigilator said if we finished, we can go off.

Now, mum can only pray that I passed this paper.
