Bento #43 + Children's Day Party

3D Hello Kitty Jelly; biscuit and corn bites; water apples

Though we are in the midst of exam period, our teachers are so kind to organised a little Children's Day party for us.

Mom made a little more food for me to share with my classmates although food are already sponsor by the teachers. This is the first time mommy uses the Hello Kitty Mould to make Jelly and Yeah! Its a success! I was so tempted by the cuteness that I actually took one on my way to school! And lucky I took one cos once I open and place the container in front of my classmates, everyone started taking and none was left for me. Mrs Tse (my form teacher) asked me to thank mommy for the effort.

The biscuit and corns bites are all from Japan. No more made in China food after all the terrible reports.

Bento #42

Top: Chicken Mayonnaise Sandwich; Ham flower

Mom learnt how to make the "flower" ham from 3lilangels. I like it!

Mom first placed some shredded lettuce on the bread and scooped in generous helping of the Chicken mayonnaise and top with slice cherry tomatoes. The sandwich taste exactly like those sold at Delifrance, so yummy! I finished in record time!

Irresponsible Teacher

Mom was trying to prepare me for my Chinese paper when she realised that I am very weak for the last 2 chapters of the textbook. She asked me why when these last few chapter should be very fresh on my mind. I told her that these 2 chapter was taught by the new Chinese teacher and she only ask us to read in class unlike Ms Wu (our usual Chinese teacher) who will write and explain the new words to us. Mom just sigh about it and focus on teaching the last two chapters.

Today, while waiting in the School's canteen for my dismissal, she saw some of my classmates' mommy and went over. Coincidentally, they were discussing about their kids' sudden weakness in Chinese especially the last few chapters. When mom told them what I said, they were fuming mad and intended to speak to the Principal.

Mom didn't want to make a big fuss but was really upset at the teacher's attitude. Though this is not her "so-call" main school, she still have the responsibility to teach the children in a responsible way and not produce this kind of sloppy work.

Its really our luck that our usual teacher went on maternity leave at this crucial period and having such irresponsible teacher to stand-in for her. She reminded mom of my daddy's cousin who also is the English teacher for a neighbourhood school. He is totally not committed to his job and every night, he would be drinking with his buddy till 3am in the morning. How can one possibly have any attention to teach the kids the next morning when he was drunk the night before??! Worst still, he doesn't read newspaper and have no idea what goes on in the world nor the financial market! Even I knows about the Presidential election going on in the USA and Obama but he is totally clueless!

These kind of teachers should really be sacked by the MOE!

My Chinese Oral

Today had my first "paper". Its Chinese Oral picture description. I said about 10 sentences about the picture. Told mom that one of the sentence when I said noodle as "mian" and the teacher corrected me as "mi". I told teacher that I learnt noodle as "mian" but the teacher said its actually "mi".

This teacher is actually a stand-in teacher for our usual Chinese teacher who had went on maternity leave. She came from China. Mom was confused as she thought noodle was "mian" too..wonder will I be penalise for this?

Anyone know noodle is call "mi" in chinese?? Please enlighten my mommy...

Bento #40

Left to right: jackfruit, HK toasted bread with Nutella; HK marshmallow

Mommy was very tired today and actually didn't want to prepare any bento for me. But since she needs to pack some light snack for Charmaine (she is going on excursion), she packed some for me too.

A very simple one. Some shredded Jackfruit (my favourite) and toasted a few slice of bread and cut into Hello Kitty shape. Mom finds it too plain and added a packet of Hello Kitty Marshmallow in.

She reminded me that if I'm still hungry after eating to go get some food. Told her I will get mushroom soup from the canteen if I'm still not full which I did.

Bento #39 - Sea Creatures

Left to right: cut papaya in penguin container;
Crab sausage; Dory (egg) and Pink Dolphin

The theme today is on sea animals.

Mom used 2 corn for the crab's eyes and stick a small seaweed for the mouth. As usual, the sausage was boiled so at least its slightly healthier than frying.

For the Dory fish, mom used Blueberry juice to colour the egg. It gives the egg a little sweetness and not so plain.

Mom used the Sakura Denbu for the pink dolphin.

And the sea? Mom lay some Chye Sin without the stem underneath the dolphin and fish..

Mid-Autumn Celebration

The Management Committee organised a Mid-Autumn celebration for all the residents and mom signed up as usual. This year, she make sure she is not blur like last year (she forgot about the celebration last year).

After some warm up games, there was a special bunny appearance (wonder what bunny got to do with Mid-Autumn festival celebration?)

Went up stage to play a game. We are supposed to collect things named by the the MC from the public (we are not allowed to take it from our own family members) so we can "mingle" and get to know each other. I came in Second but we all got the same prize...

After more games, we had our dinner. See how much we enjoyed the food..

See my cute brother eating his nugget...

After dinner, there was the lantern making contest. Our cousins, meimei, my classmate and I formed a group and started to make..its very challenging and we had no idea where to start. So my uncle and daddy tried to help. After a while, daddy gave up his post and asked mommy to come and help while he tried to "bribe" the MC..

After much struggle, we finally completed the clown lantern. Daddy said ours it the most difficult one as ours is the only clown lantern, others got car, tortoise..which is much easier to make.

What do you think of this hand-make clown lantern make within 15 minutes?

Not bad, we came in Second! But Daddy had wasted his PR effort to get us the First prize though as it was not the MC that judged which team makes the best but the crowd that decides.

See the prize for coming in 2nd?

After that, had the usual lucky draw and as usual, mommy got no luck in this area. We then closed the celebration with lantern walk around the whole neighbourhood.

Bento #38 - Hello Kitty

Left : Grapes with Hello Kitty food pick
Right: Hello Kitty moulded rice; Sakura Denbu; Broccoli; Braised Golden Mushroom; Cherry Tomatoes with Cheese Sausage

After doing the My Melody bento, mommy tried to make Hello Kitty. This is much easier. Just use the rice mould and nori cutter and that's it. I requested mommy to pack the Sakura Denbu as it really taste very nice. And also asked for some sausage..being a long time mommy gives me that.

Bento #37 - My Melody

Top(right) : Grilled drumlet with cherry tomatoes on My Melody's foodpick;
Top(Left): My Melody shaped watermelon
Bottom: My Melody moulded rice with Sakura Denbu; scramble egg, broccoli and more cherry tomatoes on My Melody foodpick.

Mommy got the idea of making My Melody rice with Sakura Denbu from Meekfreek's blog. Its very yummy..don't know how to describe the taste..

Mommy don't have the rice mould and thus, uses her clumsy hand to mould the head and the ears. Its notthat difficult though only thing is that it doesn't look very much like My Melody. But, it excites me nonetheless.

Term 3 Chinese Enrichment Appraisal

My Term 3 appraisal.

Teacher's comments: (loosely translated) Assessment were completed with high accuracy and serious with work. Need to practise more using connecting words..(I think that what the teacher say..correct me if I'm wrong.)

My First Bowling

Daddy brought us to for a game of Bowling sometimes back..again, this was when mommy was away.

This is my first time bowling and its fun. The ball is a little heavy and so, daddy suggested us to use both hands to roll the ball.

See how I "roll" the ball?! Luckily, no one saw it, otherwise, daddy said I might be chase out of the place.

The second time was better. See how well I listen to instruction.. ;P
