First Ice Skating

Daddy had intended to bring us to Night Safari...I can't remember when was the last time we visited that place. But when we were about to leave for that, the sky open and there goes the plan...

Daddy really wanted to spent a good night out with us (he will be flying off the next day) and after some pondering, decided on Ice-Skating. We went to the SkateSports at Kallang Leisure Park with my kuku, little brother and aunty. Dad felt the pinch when he had to pay a total of S$80.00 for 2 hours of fun (including the rental of all necessary equipment). Viewer (those not skating) need to pay S$3.00 for admission. Its really not cheap to have fun in Singapore.

Its our first time doing Ice-Skating but think I do better than Charmaine as I had learnt In-line skate before. But being a caution daddy, he insisted that I used the metal bar too.

It was really, really fun...daddy took some video but mommy dared not put it up as daddy was "shouting" for our attention to look at the "camera".....

Look like we put on lipstick, right? Mom was shocked when she saw the MMS from daddy and immediately SMS daddy and questioned him on that... daddy told mom she's talking nonsense though..said mom should know better than that and he hates his daughter with make-up and high heels..very worried we will attract boy when we grow up.

Daddy skated for a while and decided to its enough giving the excuse that the skate is too tight...so passed the skates to my aunty who skate with Charmaine. Both holding the metal supporter (is that what you call them?) Its fun and we skate non-stop except for posing for pictures during that 2 hours.

Mommy's Thought

Mommy had a lot of things to say about me but thought wasn't nice writing here. But hey, its my blog, so why hold back? Its not like mommy is trying to boast to anyone, God said we should not be boastful but mommy just want to write down some of her feelings about me here...so if its too much for any of you to take, please, just skip this post.

But should you decides to read on, beware as this is a long post. : )

Rachel is a dream child any mommy would pray for. She is easy to teach, be it academy or life lesson. Her ex-enrichment teacher ever told me once that Rachel will do well in school because she has the determination and stamina to do all the works that was required of her...thought nothing of it at that time (thought she was trying to be nice to me) but realised it now. When there's work to be done, she can really sit there for hours, literally hours, and complete the assignment without complains..so different from her sister. (okay, I'm not trying to compare but just realised it because of the difference in attitude) When I was away, I can 99% trust her to do her work without me being there, the 1% being grandparents distraction (like bring her out so she totally forgot about her work)

She is a very sensible child too..in fact, too sensible for her age. When I was upset, she will come over like an old friend and give me those tight hugs and rub my shoulder and consoled me saying "It's okay, mommy. We are here for you."

Sometimes when her siblings (okay, its more like her sister) complain about being tired of doing work or things, she would scold them saying that "Do you know mommy is more tired than any one of us?! She woke up the first, even before aunty and I wakes up, and the last to sleep. She has to work and cook and teach and look after us! After we sleep, she still have to do her work in front of the computer!" (*blush* so pai sei to hear that...actually, I was facebooking and blogging then..*blush*)

And she is smart too...okay, not those that will score straight "A" type without putting in effort but at least, not stupid. Got a SMS from my sister today when she saw Rachel's compositions pasted on the enrichment board, she felt so proud of her and so am I. Her exact words to me was "She really a gifted child. Can be so outstanding even in XXX (her school)".... Can't deny it. I'm really very blessed indeed. I think we sometimes need a little reminder for that.

She is obedient too. Of course, not the 100% no argument type of obey, but I have to gave her credit for trying her best. And when she did something that upset me, she knew it and immediately apologise (privately as she wants face too). She would draw apology card for me too.

She take great care of her siblings too. Being the eldest, we had always instill in her that its her responsibility to look after the little ones and to love them like we had loved her. At no times should she allow anyone to bully her siblings. At times, she will complain that its so difficult sometimes to love Charmaine when she is naughty, but I reminded her that we love her even when she is naughty, so she accept it and learnt to love them even when they get on her nerves.

Of course, she has her bad point too. She only go for the soft approach and thus, if I want to drive a point across to her, I must use the "poor mommy"approach and she will fall for it. hahaha...

She is a hot-tempered person but again, depends on who she is dealing with. She knows who she can "eat"and who she will be a prey, so she play her game well....

She is very cunning too but daddy loves it. Said too bad she is not a boy, otherwise, she will make it real big when she grows up. Daddy likes to discuss "business" with her as bed-time stories and according to daddy, she can give brilliant answers or solutions.

Another way she utilise her shrewdness is on the innocent Charmaine... she is always trying her tricks to trick Charmaine into giving to her things that she wants and sometime, we just have to step in so that the poor girl won't be bullied.
Well, that's all I want to say. I'm really very glateful God gives me such a wonderful child.

Handphone Request

I called mommy earlier on and asked if daddy can buy me a handphone...of course, the answer from the other end of the line is obvious...

Mom : No! You don't need a HP now, not even when you are in upper Primary!

Me: But why...
Mom knew what I'm gonna say next, and she interrupt me before I can finish my sentence.

Mom: Don't tell me why ku ku can have and you can't. Do you want to be grandma's daughter or mine?

Me: Yours

Mom: So, that's final. You want to be my daughter, then you have to stop comparing with others.

That night, while mommy was having her dinner, she received a SMS from daddy.

Daddy : Rachel said she wants a hp and I just bought her a Nokia 6220.
.
.
.
.
Mommy was fuming mad but since she is having dinner, she couldn't do much about it.

5 minutes later, another sms from Daddy.

Daddy: Relax, just pulling your legs..hahaha..if I really buy one for her, I think u will book a flight back immediately and tear me into pieces...hahaha...

That's what my daddy always do just to annoy my mommy... will your daddy do that too?

Bento #36

Top (left to right) : Raspberries; Butter/Olive corn; Cheese sauage with Cherry Tomatoes
Bottom (left to Right): Kitty face rice; Squid with Fish roe topplings; Stir-fry beef; cheese sausage with cherry tomatoes

Today I got a wide range of selections for my bento. Since mommy is going away again, this will be her last bento for me till she is back so in order to make me miss her bento food, she prepared all my favorite!

Corns are one of my favourite and mommy mixed in a little of the olive-butter in it.

We got the Cheese-filled sausage from the wet market on Sunday, mom heat the sausage in boiling water instead of frying it (although it would taste much nicer but mommy prefer it the other way).

Squid is another of my yummy favourite. Wonder why mommy gave me all the tentacles?? That's because I like them and no one else in the family dare to eat them, so mommy gave all to me. She then toppled it with the fish roe.

Mom tried to make a kitty face with the fish roe too but apparently, it didn't turn out nice, look more like a fierce tiger! hahaha...

Bento #35 - That's My Name!

Fillings (Left to Right) : Fish roe; Tuna; Milo with butter; Kaya; Butter; Blueberry jam

Top fruits: Golden Kiwi and Raspberries

Today bento was a little modification from LZmommy's. Mommy first cut out the square and then using the alphabets cookie cutter, cut out my name. She then spread the bottom bread with the fillings with more concentrated on the centre so that when the top bread was placed on top, it will look nice.

With the cut-out alphabets, she used it to fill up the empty space in the box.

I prefer this golden kiwi than the green type as this is sweeter. Mommy does not have small flower shape mould so she used the mould for the pineapple tart to shape the flower for the kiwi. Placed the raspberry on top for colour effect.

Nice and simple.

Odyssey Of The Mind

Our school gave out registration form last Friday for parents and us to register for the Odyssey of the Mind (OM). It will take up twice a week if we registered and being selected. We need to go through audition to see if we have the cut for creativeness.

It sounds like a very good programme which trained us to be creative in our problem solving and also working in team. Mom likes the programme but when she noted that I will have to spent 2 days a week after school to meet and discuss the project, she had some reserved. She doubt I'm able to commit to such as I already quite filled to the brim during weekday with the CCA and enrichment classes. She doesn't want to over-burden me with this even though its good.

Daddy told mommy that if I'm being selected for OM, then we can always make arrangement to cancel the English enrichment which he think its not necessary.

In class, our teacher did some screening too. She asked us to give her our best creative answer to the word "Blue" and I gave her "bluetooth"(saw it in my daddy's hp) and "once in a blue moon". For the word "Green", I told her "greenhorn". My teacher was impressed with me and a few of my friends and told us to stand up. She then give the registration form again to tell our mommy to consider signing us up. Again, mom said she will really consider it.

Anyone can give mommy some idea if she should sign me up? I can see she is in a dilemma....

My First Pet

Grandma bought this female hamster for us while mommy was not around. When I told mommy about it, I knew right away that mommy was not happy. Not happy that despite her telling us and grandma many times that we are not ready for such responsibility, we still go ahead to get it while SHE IS AWAY! I apologised to mommy and asked for forgiveness via sms while mommy was in Bangkok. Mommy told me that since we already got it, we have to take care of it.

Then, after I passed my Bronze Survivor Test, daddy brought us out for a treat. Asked what I would like as a present for passing the test, I asked daddy how about another hamster to keep the first one accompany. We chose a male one this time and the lady told us that initially the 2 hamster might fight but after a while, they will be ok, so no need to worry.

Mom was speechless when she found out about the second hamster...

Bento #34 - Elephant

Sausage in elephant cut-out; cherry tomatoes, chopped broccoli and egg

Mommy was glad I got no school today so she could try some creative shaping with the sausage. Think she still needs a little more improvement on the shaping.

Followed mommy to work today so this was my lunch.

Wow..so many!!

Mommy just came back from Thailand and once she opened her luggage, we all went "wow"! My aunty could help but laughed at mommy's craziness over the cute bento boxes and stuffs. But both my sister and I was so happy to see all those cute stuffs and start claiming it.

Type Writing

In term 3, we began the Flash Typing programme in School. Teacher said it aims to equip us in using the computer keyboard efficiently. Some of us are beginning to type words, phrases and numbers using every of our 10 little fingers!

Of course you can hear our groans and moans, complaining how tired our fingers feel and of the need to use the pause button ever so often. Sometimes we pretend to be mummies and daddies working at the computer in an air-conditioned office. We aim to type accurately so that our boss will be pleased and we could return home to spend happy hours with our children.

We now can now better appreciate our parent's labour of love!

I Did It!!!

Once I reached home after my Bronze Survivor Test, I called mommy right away to tell her that I passed my Bronze Survivor Test! Unbelievable?! Mommy thought so too but she didn't show her doubt over the phone. She "screamed"so loud with excitement and praised me for giving my best shot! I was so happy and told mommy how I did it...the costs of the trunk call didn't bother mommy at that point as she was so excited and happy for me.

After we ended the call, mommy immediately emailed daddy to inform him of the good news. Guessed what's daddy reply to mommy..."She didn't passed just like that, okay! I've been swimming with her all this while!"...hmm...MAN...all ready to claim any credit they can get. : P

It reminds mommy of one conversation with LZmommy during one of there chit-chatting session....when the kids are naughty, daddy will always say "look at YOUR xxx,..." but when their little ones did them proud, daddy will say "look at MY xxx,..." So all the good behaviours etc are their credits but the bad ones belong to mommy...

Are yours the same?
